My friend Emily recently told me that the Dorchester Post Office is building a wheelchair accessible ramp so this Post Office will be fully accessible to all after many years of being inaccessible! My friends and I decided to drive to Dorchester today to do a wheelchair accessibility review of this Post Office. Our review rating is based upon all construction being completed.

There are three handicap parking spaces in the parking lot on the side of the Post Office. The front of the Post Office and front entry is partially boarded up due to new construction under way. There is a temporary wooden wheelchair accessible ramp that leads to the side entry door. The temporary side entry door is not automatic but the front entry doors being constructed will be automatic doors!

Once inside I found this Post Office to be very spacious with plenty of room to maneuver my wheelchair around. I can reach the mail slots on the wall if I need to mail a letter. There are a few customer service windows and one is wheelchair accessible that is a perfect height for me in my wheelchair to complete my postal business.

There are two self service counters in the front of the Post Office that has various kinds of mailing labels and Priority and Overnight postal envelopes. Jean a very nice Postal Worker helped me find the postal labels I needed. All the Postal workers at this Post Office are exceptionally kind and helpful.
