After reviewing the wheelchair accessibility of the Holiday Inn Mansfield-Foxboro, my mom, Amanda, Ric and I went to check out the wheelchair accessibility of Pikes Peak Mining Company, which is the Holiday Inn’s on-site restaurant.

Pikes Peaks Restaurant, which opens daily at 4PM, is adjacent to the Holiday Inn. You can enter this restaurant from inside the Holiday Inn or from the main front entrance of this restaurant. There are plenty of handicap parking spaces located in next to the main entrance. The main entry doors are not automatic but are plenty wide enough to fit your chair with ease.

Once inside I found the dining area is spacious; with plenty of wheelchair accessible tables which are all of a good accessible height. The booths are not wheelchair accessible yet it is not a problem for there are plenty of accessible tables.

The lounge/bar area is NOT wheelchair friendly or accessible because there is no wheelchair seating. The bar is too high for my wheelchair and all the tables are tall bar-style tables which are too high for me to reach. There are large flat screen TVs placed on the walls which are easy to view yet there is no accessible seating to view these TVs.

The restrooms are NOT wheelchair accessible due to stairs which block wheelchair access to the restrooms. We mentioned this problem to Nate, General Manager of the Holiday Inn and he kindly told us that patrons dining in the restaurant in need of a wheelchair accessible restroom can use the accessible restroom located in the lobby of the Holiday Inn. I didn’t deduct a star because there is access to an accessible restroom yet I think it would be inconvenient for a patron in a wheelchair to have to leave the restaurant and recommend they place an accessible restroom inside the restaurant.

When I review a restaurant I usually mention the service and food. I reviewed this restaurant at noon and it wasn’t open so I have no idea about the food or service. If you’re been here for dinner let us know about the service and food:-)

I give Pikes Peaks Restaurant of Mansfield THREE STARS for wheelchair accessibility. In order to earn the other Two Stars they would need to install an automatic entry door at the front entrance so a patron in a wheelchair can enter and exit independently; lower a section of the bar in the lounge to a wheelchair accessible height; and place some accessible seating in the lounge so a patron is a wheelchair can enjoy a drink in the lounge/bar area while watching the large screen TVs. I highly recommend they place an accessible restroom inside this restaurant so all patrons have convenient and equal access to a restroom.
