My friends and I headed to Falmouth this week to visit my mom and dad who were vacationing at Captain Quarter’s. We decided to do a wheelchair accessibility review of Captain’s Quarters while we were there. Captain’s Quarter’s, an InnSeason Resort is located right across the street from Falmouth Heights Beach. There is a handicap parking space right in front of a cement slope that leads to the lobby/office of this resort. The door to the lobby is not automatic. A spacious wheelchair accessible restroom is located off the main lobby and it meets all the ADA requirements.

The resort staff are all very friendly and helpful. A nice woman at the desk told us that the Town of Falmouth required them to meet all ADA Laws when Captain Quarter’s underwent major renovations in last 10 years!

Captain Quarter’s is a Time Share Resort who rents out their one or two bedroom suites when they are available. Each suite has a living area, a kitchenette and one or two bedrooms with a gas fireplace and a patio or balcony. It is a 3 story building and has no elevator yet there are two wheelchair accessible rooms with roll in showers located on the first floor. If you have difficultly walking but not in a wheelchair I would suggest you ask for a first floor room. The resort has a large cement patio area around an outdoor pool and there is plenty of space to wheel around. There is no pool lift so I did not get to go into the pool.

The wheelchair accessible room that I got to see has a wooden ramp leading to a patio in front of the entry door. There is a grill to barbecue and an accessible table on the patio. The suite has a living area with a pull out couch, a kitchenette, a spacious master bedroom and a large wheelchair accessible bathroom.

There is a wheelchair accessible sink in the kitchenette and the pipes under the sink are covered as is now ADA required. The bathroom is very large and has a roll in shower and an accessible sink and meets all ADA requirements. The bedroom is really big and has plenty of room for one to maneuver a wheelchair around.

The Harborwalk and Surfside are two other InnSeason Resorts located close by and both have 2 wheelchair accessible rooms with roll in showers as well! Just click on the website above for more details about the InnSeason Resorts located in Falmouth.

I give Captain Quarter’s FOUR STARS for wheelchair accessibility. In order to earn the other Star they would need to install an automatic door leading into the lobby/office. If they installed an elevator and a pool lift then they would get a PLUS.
