Today my friends and I headed to Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill to CELEBRATE Ric’s birthday and my 1 year Anniversary of me moving to my new home. We found Smokey Bones to be very wheelchair accessible. There are 4 handicap parking spaces right in front of a wheelchair accessible cement ramp that leads to the main entry door. You will need help with opening the two double entry doors for neither are automatic.

Once inside you will be greeted by a hostess who will bring you to your table. The restaurant is very spacious with plenty of room between tables and easy to maneuver your wheelchair around. Tables at an upper dining level are wheelchair accessible for there is a ramp that leads to this area. The table is a perfect height for my wheelchair too. Flat screen TV’s are on all the walls and are easy for me to see even with my visual impairment. The lighting is very good and I especially like the fireplaces that are throughout the restaurant.

The bar is not wheelchair accessible for it is too tall. I’ve only seen a few bars that have some sections lowered for persons in wheelchairs. The restrooms are very spacious with a large wheelchair accessible stall and two wheelchair accessible sinks. Protective covering is placed around the pipes under the sink as ADA requires. Our waitress was very courteous and kind and the service and food was really good.

I give Smokey Bones FOUR STARS for wheelchair accessibility. In order to earn the Fifth Star they would need to install automatic entry doors. It would also be nice if they lowered a small section of the bar so a person in a wheelchair can enjoy sitting at the bar with their friends.
