Last weekend my mom, dad, friends and I had the wonderful opportunity of seeing our two friends Amanda and Pete join in the Holy Sacrament of Marriage. Amanda and Pete’s wedding ceremony and reception was held at the new The Riverside which specializes in special functions, banquets and weddings. Amanda did a splendid job planning a beautiful wedding that was very wheelchair friendly and accessible to all family and friends.

There are plenty of handicap parking spaces located up front in the large parking lot close to the main entrance. Before entering we spoke with Pete, the excited groom and wished him our congratulationss on his marriage. A wide accessible sloped wooden walkway leads to the main entrance. As soon as we approached the entrance, a kind hostess held both sets of entry doors wide open for us and warmly greeted us.

Once inside we found it spacious with plenty of room to maneuver my wheelchair; the entire place has a nice cozy and comfortable feel. The Riverside has a great layout to hold both a wedding ceremony and reception in one location with no need to travel. We were directed to a large room located on the left side of the Riverside where the wedding ceremony took place. Chairs were arranged in front of a beautiful lit fireplace where Pete and Amanda shared their wedding vows blessed by a very kind and compassionate minister of God.

After Pete and Amanda’s wedding ceremony, we proceeded to the lounge for cocktails and horderves while the wedding party was having photos taken outside.

This lounge area is spacious and fully accessible with a wooden ramp leading to some tables. The servers were very kind and friendly and the horderves were delicious. The wooden bar is beautiful and the hardwood floors allow for any easy wheel. Located in the lounge was a table of a perfect accessible height with place cards to let each guest know the table number where they were to be seated in the main function room where the reception was held.

After enjoying cocktails and horderves we were kindly directed to the main function room located to the right side of the lounge. Amanda and the wedding party were cheered and warmly greeted as they entered their wedding reception. A table for the Bride and Groom was set in front where we could all see the happy newlyweds enjoy their special occasion. A beautifully decorated and delicious wedding cake was set on a side table which was of an accessible height.

The large function room is spacious, well lit and has nice dance floor located in front of all the tables set up for guests. The tables are all of a perfect height for my wheelchair and I had no problem enjoying my delicious meal sitting with my family and friends. I enjoyed dancing to the music with Amanda, the beautiful and loving bride. The wheelchair accessible restroom is spacious and fully ADA compliant.

Amanda and Pete’s wedding was festive and a lot of fun and all of us enjoyed dancing and celebrating their special day. The staff was very courteous, accommodating and professional. The service was great and the food was superb and served hot.

I give The Riverside FIVE STARS for wheelchair accessibility and FIVE STARS for providing an ideal setting for an accessible wedding ceremony and reception!

Congratulations Amanda and Pete! May your marriage be forever blessed with love, faith and joy!!
