It’s fall again and my favorite time of the year to go Apple and Pumpkin Picking. My friends and I traveled to C.N. Smith Farms in East Bridgewater to see how wheelchair accessible it is. We were very happy to see that there is a handicap parking space right up front.

C.N. Smith Farm offers Apple Picking, Pumpkin Picking, Hayrides and a Petting Zoo. Apple Picking is available on Thursday-Friday: 10am-4pm and -Sunday: 9am-4pm. Hayrides are on Saturday-Sunday and cost is $3.50. Pumpkin Picking is $3.50 plus .59 cents a pound for the pumpkin you pick.

The terrain you travel on to pick apples and pumpkins is uneven and bumpy. You can get your wheelchair into the apple and pumpkin fields to do some picking but it may be a bit of a challenge to go though. I recommend you bring a Power Chair or a strong friend to push your wheelchair to get though it.

The Hayrides here are not wheelchair accessible. I have been to places that do have wheelchair accessible hayrides such as the old Spooky World for it had a ramp I could wheel up to get onto the wagon. I really enjoyed it and wish I could find some more wheelchair accessible hayrides. If anyone knows of a wheelchair accessible hay ride in Massachusetts please post a comment with the name and address of the place.

The farm store at C.N. Smith Farm has wide doors and aisles. I had no problems wheeling around the store and the outside area in front of the store where you pick out your pumpkins and other harvest goods is easy to maneuver around in my wheelchair. I picked out a few pumpkins, some stalks and a few other decorations for my home. Denise and Ruthie, two employees are really nice and were courteous and helpful to me.

I really liked the Halloween Train that was on display in the store. It was easy for me to wheel around in this room and I pushed the bottom and got the see the train go around the track. It was a great train set and there are some really cool Halloween decorations throughout the room as well.

I give C.N. Smith Farms THREE STARS for wheelchair accessibility. They can earn the other Two Stars if they add a ramp for wheelchairs to get onto the hayride and install a cement or wooden path in a small section of the apple/pumpkin picking field so that persons in a wheelchair can get there with ease to pick apples and pumpkins. C.N. Smith Farms is a great place to visit and the staff here are wonderful!
